WWE superstar MVP has sensationally walked out on the promotion.

The 37-year-old has quit Vince McMahon's firm in order to seek a new challenge and hinted he could join the New Japan Pro Wrestling brand.

A statement from WWE read: "World Wrestling Entertainment has come to terms on the release of WWE Superstar MVP as of December 2, 2010. WWE wishes MVP the best in all future endeavors."

On severing his ties with the company, MVP said: "I did not get fired, I asked for and received my release.

"I felt it was time to go international and freshen things up."

Responding to a fan's question on twitter on whether he could face Masahiro Chono in New Japan Wrestling, MVP added: "I hope so."

Former WWE star Matt Hardy, who held the tag team title with MVP, said: "Congratulations to my partner MVP as he's made the right decision to change career paths.

"I know he'll do great, he's an awesome guy and performer.

"MVP's an amazing human being and friend who has beat the odds in life and will continue to."

As well as holding the tag team belts with Hardy, MVP also won the United States championship twice during his four-year stint with WWE.

HOLY F'ING LOLOLOL ROFL HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! It's so true, though!

I hope I'm proven wrong on MVP's ability. NJPW will definitely showcase his actual talents and I'll be able to see if he's average or was actually held back by WWE. I hope it's the fact that he was held back, I can see myself really liking him if he could work better.

Ignore my post, I completely forgot one MAJOR FLAW.

Due to his past criminal record, [MVP] is barred from visiting some countries for international tours such as Japan.
Yep, just like your WWE dream, your NJPW dream is GONE.

I feel the same way about him. And it's ever worse since he left. It's like he's Moses of the Exodus from WWE...

Uh-oh! Looks like he'll need a new identity. He can switch with his brother.
